Obituary of Norita Anne Latham

Norita Anne Latham, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the age of 78 years. She was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on March 19, 1941 to Harold and Hazel Johnson. Through her childhood and youth, Norita belonged to the Weyburn Figure Skating Club, loved swimming, hiking, and playing baseball. She also sang in the Anglican Youth Choir. Norita attended Haig School from grades 1-8 and high school at WCI, where she met the love of her life Don Latham. Norita and Don were married on October 20, 1956, and the couple were blessed with three sons, Tom, Dan, and Mike. Norita held her first job at age 15 at the Saskatchewan Hospital in Weyburn as a Ward Attendant. Throughout her career she held various retail positions, the last of which was managing the United Cigar Store in the Cornwall Centre. Norita was an avid gardener with a very green thumb. She was a very good homemaker and excellent cook, a gift she loved to share with family and friends. She enjoyed hosting events for her extended family and especially loved Christmas. Norita and Don really enjoyed bird hunting together and Norita was a pretty good shot! They also enjoyed trips to Venezuela, New Orleans, and the Indianapolis 500. Norita really loved and appreciated children and deeply loved and was so proud of their grandchild Tyler. She had a very bright and inquisitive mind and a keen sense of humor right to her last day. Norita was predeceased by her husband Don Latham; sons, Tom Latham and Danny Latham; parents, Harold and Hazel Johnson; sister Lorna Cathey; husband Dan Cathey; father and mother-in-law Albert and Gladys Latham; and brother-in-law Ken Latham. Norita is survived and will be missed by her son Mike (Cindy); grandchild Tyler; sister Lenore Ostlund (Gordon); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan or Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan.
