Obituary of Louise Ellen Ibbott
Lou-Ellen Ibbott of Regina SK, passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughters on Monday, February 3, 2020. Born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Lou grew up in Winnipeg with her sister, Joanne Singbeil and three brothers, Bill, Dennis and Jim McDonald. Following high school, she moved to Vancouver where she worked at Eaton’s and then as a nanny before becoming a flight attendant. On one of her flights between Winnipeg and Regina, she met a young periodontist, Claude Ibbott, who would become her husband of 49 years.
Lou-Ellen worked as a receptionist and book keeper in Claude’s periodontal office. She was also an avid volunteer; working in the school library, serving as a Brownie and Girl Guide Leader and teaching ballroom dancing at the Regina Ballroom Dance Club.
Lou’s proudest and greatest job, however, was being a mother to her two daughters, Hillary Ibbott Neiszner (Troy Neiszner) and Whitney Love (Chris Love), and a grandmother to her four grandchildren, Autumn and Holland Neiszner and Jasper and Winter Love. Affectionately nicknamed Maudi Lou by Autumn, she enjoyed driving her grandchildren to their activities, shopping for them, treating them to dinners, watching movies and musicals together and having them for sleepovers.
Lou and Claude enjoyed cheering for the Roughriders and were season ticket holders for over 40 years. They also loved spending winters in Palm Desert with their good friends and especially enjoyed entertaining the children and grandchildren on family vacations to Palm Springs.
Lou faced her ALS with grace and bravery. We would like to thank the care aids at Green Falls Landing and the amazing staff in unit 3-3 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre who went above and beyond to care for her right up until her passing.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving the gift of life. Lou-Ellen was a regular blood donor and was recognized by Canadian Blood Services, prior to her diagnosis, for over 125 blood donations. This would be a wonderful way to honour her memory or memorial donations would be graciously accepted to refurnish the solarium where Lou-Ellen spent her last days at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Unit 3-3, 2180 23rd Avenue, Regina, SK, S4S 0A5. A private celebration of Lou’s life will be held in May.
