Obituary of Lois Bertha Steen

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom, grandma and great-grandma “Loie” on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the age of 91 years. She was predeceased by her husband Robert “Chuck” Steen; brother George Cook, sisters, Shirley (Bud), Hazel (Jack) and Jeannie and lifelong friend Del Cairns.  Lois is survived by her son, Tim, daughter, Kathy Fines; grandson Ben (Brittany) Fines; great-granddaughters, Ivy and Corallee; sisters-in-law, Joan Cook and Doreen Steen; brother-in-law, Bob Dewar; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Regina and was very involved in the community throughout her life.  She was a member of the Scandinavian Club, enjoyed learning Norwegian from dear friend Mildred Ihlen, and loved her cousins in Norway whom she met on wonderful trips there with her mother and sister Jeannie.  She loved travelling and enjoyed trips with Chuck to the Maritimes, Alaska and Ireland. Lois was a long time parishioner of St. James Anglican Church and served for many years on the ACW.  Lois and Chuck spent many hours with fellow vets at #600 Wing and Biographies Regina Inc. writing about North Western Iron Works, her family’s business in early days of Regina. She loved spending time in nature especially in Qu’Appelle Valley. An accomplished artist, craftsperson and milliner, there was nothing she couldn’t make or fix.  Lois’ greatest joy was her family, her dear grandson, and his sweet girls that would light up her face with love.  Funeral Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 1105 Empress Street, Regina, SK, on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.  Interment in RMG. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing, may make donations in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan INC., please specify “Designated for research,” 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
