Obituary of Gord Wiles

Donald Gordon Wiles, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his wife Sharon Wiles (nee Zimmer); parents Ken and Edna Wiles; sister Jean Martindale; and brother-in-law Morrison 'Moe' Morley. Gordon is survived by daughters Heather (John) Morris and Regan Wiles; granddaughters Jane and Molly Morris; sister Marilyn Morley; brother-in-law Bryan Martindale; sister-in-law Joan (Bill) Hansen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon began life on the family farm near Glasnevin, SK. He went to Glasnevin School until grade 7, then took grades 8, 9, and 10 by correspondence. For two years he worked around the province working on power lines for SaskPower, then moved to Regina and began a career with the City of Regina Police Service. After a 31-year career as a cop, Gordon spent a long and productive retirement playing bagpipes with the Regina Police Service Pipes and Drums, golfing with former work colleagues, curling, woodworking, and traveling. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, the Sons of Scotland, the Wa Wa Shrine and the Assiniboia Lodge. He was a season ticket holder with the Globe Theatre, the Regina Symphony Orchestra, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He enjoyed spending time with family, and would never say no to pizza and a beer. Thank you to the nurses and staff of College Park II for their compassionate care during Gordon's stay there.
