Obituary of David Lyle Benjoe Jr.

On Monday March 2, 2020 “the man, the myth, the legend” David Benjoe Jr. was called home by the creator at the age of 64. David was born on April 8, 1955 to David Benjoe Sr and Rosa Benjoe (Obey). He is welcomed to the spirit world by his loving parents David and Rosa Benjoe; his sons David Benjoe III and Mathew Anaskan; his siblings, Harold Benjoe Sr, Sandra Kitchemonia (Benjoe), Joyce Benjoe; his grandchild Payton Anaskan; his brother-in-law Frank Kaisowatum; his aunt and uncle George and Eva Cappo. David, like his son who had gone before him, had the heart and mind of a warrior, always made sure that people around him were comfortable and always looked after. He lived the life of simplicity, did not own a fancy house or car but always had enough love and energy to aid anyone who asked. David leaves behind his children, Norine Anaskan, Carolyn (Eugene) Wahobin, Dustin Anaskan, Stana Anaskan, Darrin Anaskan, and his adopted son Ian Nighttraveller; his grandchildren,  Dustin “Dutch”, Stanliegh, Phoenix, Emery Wahobin, Athena and Joshua Benjoe, Santonio and Paige Anaskan, and Ireland Taypotat; great-grandchild, Lazz Wahobin; his sisters, Yvonne Benjoe, Madeline (Tina) Benjoe and Lucille Lerat (Benjoe); his brother Daniel Benjoe; other family members he took as siblings; Virginia (Hank) Buckles, Wendell (Porky) Benjoe, Audrey (Brad) Benjoe, Rhonda (Chris) Benjoe, Kimberly Benjoe, Elroy Benjoe and Kerry Benjoe; his special nieces and friends, Beatrice Obey and Danita Benjoe; his two aunts, Jean and Roseanne Benjoe; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and his many close friends. Wake will be held at the Muscowpetung Education Centre, Muscowpetung First Nation, on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the same location, on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. A private interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
