Vivien Genaille

Obituary of Vivien Ann Claudette Genaille

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Godmother passed peacefully on Sunday March 22, 2020 at the age of 56 after a difficult battle with cancer. She left this physical world while in the loving arms of her only child, her pride and joy Rachelle, and with her son- in-law Brendan and sister MaryAnn by her side.

Vivien was predeceased by her father Phillip in 2009, and her nephew James in 2011. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Rachelle (Brendan); the love of her life, her granddaughter Rileya; her mother Madeline; her six siblings, Louis (Tammy), MaryAnn, Alex (Linda), Albert, George (Susan), and the baby sister she always adored Jackie (Mike). Vivien had a special place in her heart and very special relationships with her Godchildren, Jessica, Matthew, and Christopher. Vivien also had sixteen nieces and nephews and thirteen great-nieces and nephews and two more on the way that she wished she could have met. Every single one of them always knew she loved them and was proud of them.

Vivien was born in the town of Birtle, Manitoba and spent her childhood and most of her teenage years in Brandon, Manitoba. She and her siblings had a happy childhood, always surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom she remained very close to until the very end.

Vivien was the strongest person we knew, who took on the role of single motherhood like it was the easiest job in the world. She dedicated her whole life to giving Rachelle the best of everything she possibly could, and proudly did the same for Rileya. She was a fighter. Her recent battle against cancer wasn’t the first time she had to fight for her life. She battled most of her adult life against kidney disease, eventually needing to go through dialysis and then a kidney transplant in 2008.

Vivien's family and friends meant the world to her. She was always the first to volunteer to host holiday events, barbecues and other special events at her house. She would cook and bake for anyone and everyone. She took great joy in having a house full of people she loved. She was also the first person to offer help to anyone who needed it, whether it be baking for a bake sale, helping to plan steak nights, to buying things to give away for raffles. She could always be counted on for help.

Vivien was a proud employee of the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region and held the same position as a steno clerk at the Pasqua Hospital in the x-ray department for her whole career. She was excited to be getting close to retirement, which was less than two years away. She cared for and appreciated all of her co-workers and spoke fondly of them often.

Our family would like to thank all the staff and her nurses on 3B and 3A at the Pasqua Hospital for their help and kindness during this difficult time.

A private funeral service will be held. Attendance will be by invitation only due to recent world events and concern for the health and wellness of her family. Those wishing to view the webcast of the service may do so on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. by clicking on the link at the bottom of this obituary. A larger celebration of Vivien's life and interment of her ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers Vivien would have appreciated donations be made in her name to a medical fund for her great niece Julia. Donations may be mailed to 443 Palliser St, Regina, SK S4R 5J6, Canada.

“Forever in our hearts.”
