It is with great sadness the family of Leona Jane Annie Bouchard (Pattison) announce her passing at the age of 77 on May 28, 2020 while at the Regina General Hospital with loved ones at her side.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Hector Wilbrod Bouchard; parents Albert Pattison and Florence Demers and brother-in-law Albert Henry.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Shane (Erin), Shawn, and Dwight (Gwen). She will also be fondly remembered by her ten grandchildren, Terry (Karen), Theodore, Adam (Natalia), Daniel (Jen), Kristen (Kelsey -KR), Shane Jr., Kelsey (Travis), Shyla, Maddison and Ava; as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sisters, Carol Henry and Emma Johnson.
Leona was born on July 31, 1942 in Toronto, Ontario to Albert Pattison and Florence Demers. She was raised on a farm in Northern Ontario where she met her future husband in South Porcupine during her high school years. She and Hector started a family once married and were blessed with twin boys Shane and Shawn in 1962, and in 1966 Dwight was born. Leona was busy raising her family while Hector continued his mining career in Ontario. In 1973 they moved the family to Uranium City, Saskatchewan. During this time Leona worked for North Saskatchewan Electric. In 1981 the family moved to Webb, Saskatchewan and then from there to Regina, Saskatchewan where Leona worked for the Centre of Arts. In 1986 they moved to Montreal, Quebec while Hector pursued his RCMP career. During this time, she found it hard to communicate so decided to take French classes. This enabled her to find a housekeeping job getting her out of the house while Hector worked as an RCMP. She always enjoyed cleaning and keeping everyone’s house tidy! They made a few great friendships while living in Montreal, some of which continued after moving back to Regina in 1989.
In 1989 they came back to Regina to live where Leona enjoyed gardening and spending time with family, friends, and her grandchildren. She was always happy to make her home-made spaghetti and baked buns for family dinners. Leona loved to cross stitch and do crossword puzzles. She also loved to decorate for Christmas in the hopes all the children and grandchildren would be home. It was one of Leona’s favorite times of the year. She enjoyed meeting friends at the mall for coffee and making trips out East to visit Hector’s family. During her last few months she made many friends at the retirement home and enjoyed bingo and playing cards. We would like to thank the staff at the Renaissance, as they made Leona feel at home there. She will be sadly missed by all.
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with private interment to follow. To view a livestream of the funeral service, please click on the link to Speers TV at the top of Leona’s online tribute page.
