Obituary of Mervin Gilbert Schuster

Mervin, formerly of Dysart, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the Regina General Hospital on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, in his 85th year of life. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Ann; his loving daughters, Sherry (Michael) Andruschak and Fay Schuster; and the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Harrison Michael and Greer Elizabeth. Being with his family was Merv’s everything, his greatest joy. Mervin was an avid John Deere fanatic and a Blue Jays and Saskatchewan Roughriders enthusiast. Merv, and his wife Ann, were active members of Holy Cross Church for over 60 years. Mervin was a retired captain with the City of Regina Fire Department (1957-1990). He served as president of the Regina Professional Firefighters Local 181 for several years. We would like to say thank you to the Regina EMS Paramedics, Regina Fire Department, the ER and CCU staff at the Regina General Hospital, and especially RN Misty. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Funeral Mass by personal invitation, will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Richard Jasiak presiding.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 235 Yorkland Blvd. Suite 600, Toronto, ON, M2J 4Y8 or the Firefighters Burn Fund, 1422 Stn. Main, Regina, SK, S4P 3C2.
