Phyllis Miller

Obituary of Phyllis Ethel Devenish Miller

Phyllis Miller (nee Apps) of Regina passed away July 21, 2020, a few weeks shy of her 98th birthday. Phyllis was born and raised in the Prince Albert area, where she met her future husband, Raymond, while working as a bookkeeper for the provincial Fish Marketing Board (Ray worked in the warehouse). After their wedding, Phyllis and Ray moved to the Miller family farm ten miles west of Cymric, Saskatchewan, overlooking Last Mountain Lake. Phyllis raised three children and maintained two houses for much of her life (Ray and Phyl wintered in Regina). Her cooking and gardens were legendary, and she was also a skilled grain truck driver during harvest. In later years, she developed her considerable talents as an artist, painting many amazing landscapes and farmyard scenes. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents William and Alice Apps, an infant son Darryl, three cherished brothers, Harry, Frank, and Leonard Apps, and by her loving husband and farming partner of fifty-four years, Ray. Phyllis is survived by her daughters Joan Miller of Regina and Donna (John) Humbert of Moose Jaw, and by her son Brian Miller of Regina. Phyllis always put family first, and she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her children. A graveside service was held July 29.
