To the Daum family, my sincere condolences. I apologize for this late note but just discovered Greg's obituary yesterday. Greg and I were in the same class in high school (Palmerston). On the first day of school, grade 10, he and I were selected to move from the 'B' class to the 'A' class - we both felt we had to pick up our game and I believe this challenge led to better opportunities for both of us. It was during these years we played a lot of billiards together - Greg was a skilled player. As it turned out, we both chose Engineering at the University of Waterloo - he in electrical and I in chemical. He and I lived on the same floor in residence for about 5 terms - he had an open and warm personality and it was so nice to have support and friendship close-by through some difficult times. During this time, when Greg took a break from studies, he would wander down the hall and into my room, sit in a chair in the corner and strum away on his 12 string hollow-body guitar.
So thankful to have known him.

When I started at SaskPower I found myself at a bit of a loss; I had never intended to work in the power industry and my knowledge with anything power related was... lacking. Due to his wealth of knowledge and easy demeanor, Greg quickly became my go-to-guy for guidance. I was always so relieved when, in spite of being busy, he would reach into his shirt pocket, pull out his pen and click it, then look for a scrap of paper to make me a diagram. That seemed to be the general consensus when anyone spoke of him, if you have a question go to Greg.
Reading some of the other comments here, it seems like that quality followed him wherever he worked. I am sure he has enlightened many young staff, not just myself over the years. He left his great mark on our office as well as the industry.
I am saddened to say that we will never get to play that next game of pool.... the one where I was finally going to win without him letting me.
Thanks for all the lessons Greg, in all things power and billiards related. You will be missed.

My sincerest condolences to Greg's family. Greg was a great mentor, not only professionally but personally, through our 18 years of working together. He was very encouraging and had a special way of teaching and guiding. He always had a story that helped relay the teaching moment and his stories of his travels were very entertaining. It was an honor to work with and learn so much from Greg.

Greg was always up for a laugh or anything to make a smile or chuckle. One night at university he and another hid in the physics building until after midnight. They then climbed onto the roof and painted a smile on the observatory.
Greg had a unique laugh that you could pick out of a crowd.

God be with you until we meet again, Greg. You are in our Lord's arms, and in my heart. Thank you for teaching me that I can accept the best of the best that God offers me, and that I don't need to "pass" so that someone else can take it instead. Thank you for being the best you, encouraging me to be the best me. Rest well, my friend.
