Shirley Kohlsmith

Obituary of Shirley Jean Kohlsmith

Shirley passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, October 07, 2020 at the age of 72 years. Shirley was raised in Weyburn. She married Mervin in 1972 returning to Regina to make their home.   She was predeceased by her beloved husband Mervin; parents, Leonard and Elizabeth; mother and father in-law, Helen and Earl; and her sister-in-law Linda Fiorante. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Trent) and Theresa (Mike); siblings Beryl (Ted) Olson, Lorne (Edna) Newsome, Pat Kaytor, Len (Jean) Newsome; sisters-in-law Elaine Swerid and Kathy (Frank) Hoffman; brother-in-law Felix Fiorante; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. For many years Mom coordinated programs at the Regina Senior Citizen’s Centre and had a zest for her work and the people she encountered at the Second Cup. Mom loved to visit with people especially while she painted with her painting friends – this was a true passion…coffee pot was always on! Family dinners meant the world to Mom and they are times we will always cherish.  We would like to thank the staff of Palliative Home Care; especially Travis, Pam and Maria. As well we extend our gratitude to numerous neighbours and friends for their love and support. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s name to a charity of your choice.  At a future date, when larger gatherings are permitted, a Celebration of Shirley’s life will be held. Married for 46 years Mom and Dad were inseparable and are now together again and at peace.
