Vaughan attended Briercrest Bible College from 1954-1957 where he met his wife Melba and they were married May 16th, 1957 at Briercrest, after graduation. For their honeymoon, they went to Muskegon, MI where they attended the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) Institute for three months. They were offered positions in New Zealand, Colorado, or Saskatchewan and chose Saskatchewan where they began the work of CEF of Saskatchewan in the fall of 1957. They served as the directors for 10 years while living in Regina. In April of 1967 they went farming for seven years in Dauphin, MB, on the farm Vaughan grew up on, before returning to the ministry of CEF of Saskatchewan in the fall of 1974.
