Mr. and Mrs. Barss and family. I was saddened to hear about the passing of Shannon. Our families grew up together living across the street from each other and, as such, we were all one big family in a way. We looked out for each other, we played together, and now we mourn as one. One of my fondest childhood memories was playing in your basement with Shannon and watching the magic of an Easy Bake Oven creating a delightful treat for us to share. I pray the happy memories you have of Shannon will help ease your pain and provide strength to face the days ahead.

Doug , Alice & family,
My sincerest condolences on your loss of Shannon. We watched the service on the computer, sorry you were not able to have all your family and friends there with you. It was a lovely and moving memorial. Although we didn't see Shannon very often, I enjoyed hearing how she was doing. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Sincerely Lynda(Edmonds) & Jim McDonald

My deepest Condolences to Shannon's Family. I am very saddened to hear of Shannon's passing. Many years ago, She trained me as a cashier and she also trained me as a shift Manager. I took over her position when she left to go to school. Many of us in the Bank at Casino Regina remember her as one of the best cashier and also one of the best Managers we had. She was calm, knowledgeable, easy going, always smiles and always helps us out. She will be greatly missed. One great memory I had, we joined a Curling Bonspiel at work to represent the Bank. Three Ice Queens, Shannon, Pauline and me and King Farquad Cory. We called our Team King Farquad and the Ice Queens. We had a great time.

Shannon was a good friend to me when I worked close to her area in finance. I would often stop and talk to her at her office and shoot the breeze. I will miss the little things, like talking about books or sipping coffee on a break together. Shannon made me smile and her natural outgoing kindness was always a highlight of my day.
My sincerest sympathies go out to Shannon's family, whe will be sorely missed.

Im so sorry for your loss of the beautiful Shannon. I worked with Shannon at the casino but I knew her almost all my life. We grew up in rosemont and went to transcona, wascana and Martian together. I remember playing at her home and mine, I remember bowling at rosemont, I remember us ridding our bikes and being thrilled it was getting dark and of course we would wuss out and go home. We lost touch over the years but I was very happy that we got to see each other often at work. I didnt know that Shannon was ill , she was just always so positive, I’m sad that this lovely lady is gone and offer my condolences on the loss of your special person, she most absolutely was special. Rest In Peace my friend.

Thank you to all the people that worked with Shannon, telling your stories. I love reading these stories and picturing the scene in my mind. They make me smile through the tears.
I want to also let you know that on the first page, the Obit page, there is a link to a photo album and the recording of the service link should show up there later today as well.

Shannon was a quiet soul - I would love going up to Finance and yell "Shaaaaaanon"!! and she would yell back (quietly) "Baaaaaarb" and we would giggle. Every January/February I had to bother her for a year-end task that I needed her assistance with and she would never complain about the tedious task she had to do.
She always had a smile on her face and was a kind person.
I am so sorry for your loss -- may your memories of Shannon always keep her close to your hearts.

My deepest condolences to Shannon's family. I worked with Shannon for a number of years in our Finance area. She had a very strong independent personality with a great sense of humor. I remember her last day at work before starting her cancer treatments. We gave each other a large hug. She is going to be missed very much. May her spirit soar in the heavens and shine upon all she loved. I'm going to miss you Shannon.

Dear Darlene, Doug, Alice and all the family members. We know you will miss Shannon very much. It's been a long journey and Shannon weathered it well with grace and dignity. Although we didn't really know Shannon, we learned a bit about her through Darlene at Focus 91. Darlene shared many memories of their adventures and time spent together especially when they were living together and during these past months. Thank you for inviting us to share the tribute on-line. It was an honour to be part of it. We wish you peace and many wonderful memories of Shannon. Hugs from Larry and Joanna.

To the family of Shannon. I knew Shannon and had the pleasure of working with her at Casino Regina, as we were hired around the same time in 1996. Shannon was a hard working individual and I was always grateful to have her working with me on those long weekend evenings as you could always count on Shannon no matter how busy we were. Years later we were both ended up back in the Finance area at the Casino. I had a particular annual report that had to be completed and when she found out the struggles I had with the completion of it, she simply said "Ron just give me a call and we can work through it together" and we did each year. I always promised her a coffee when we got through it and she would tell me "you dont have to" but I did and she would shake her head at me and we would laugh. It was a honor and privilege to work with your daughter and sister. I know she will be sadly missed by you her family and her colleagues at Casino Regina. Ron Adams
