Shannon Barss passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 after a 19-month journey with cancer. She was surrounded with love from her family. Shannon is survived by her parents Doug and Alice Barss; her four brothers and one sister, Bruce (Wanda), Eldon, and Travis; Ron (Heather), Kirsten, Drew, and Megan; Darlene (Steve), and Devin; Richard (Erin), and Kolten; Bob (Gail), Rob, Ann, Jennifer, and James; as well as, all the spouses/partners of the nephews, nieces, and several great-nephews and nieces. Shannon attended Transcona and Wascana Elementary Schools, and Martin High School. She started her career at Canada Trust then moved on to cashier at Casino Regina shortly after it opened. She took time off work to go to SIAST in Moose Jaw for a 2 year accounting course and then went back to the casino as Account Officer. Shannon was a stubborn, fiercely independent woman that didn’t let everyone in on her struggles. When asked how she was doing she would always reply with a cheery “I am good” or “I am doing alright”, no matter how weak or sick she was. She was dearly loved and she will be greatly missed. The family wish to thank the Palliative Care team, both at home and at the hospital, who gave her such good care at the end. They are also forever grateful for the love and care of big sister and best friend Darlene during her final months.
