It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Catherine Simpson (Munro). Predeceased by her parents William and Elsie Munro, Mary leaves us all with her kindness, warmth and giving nature. Mary is survived by her husband Don; sons Darren and Mark (Nadine); her three cherished grandchildren Kyle, Hayle and Ryan; her brother Jim; sister Donna-Lee (Carl); sister-in-law Jean (Doug); brother-in-law (John); and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was born and raised in Strasbourg, SK. She pursued a career in health care taking a nursing course in Melville, SK and married Don in 1964. Mary had a long and wonderful career in health care, starting out and staying at the Grey Nuns Hospital (Pasqua) working in the Operating Room for 35+ years, retiring in 2006. Over those years, Mary was a trusted, respected and valued person amongst doctors, surgeons and her peers. She maintained many lifelong friendships from the hospital, with special friends Pat, Sophie, Linda and Noreen being a wonderful part of Mary’s life. Raising her family, Mary was very active and involved in the lives her sons as they grew up, always being one of the first to volunteer for school events or activities when help was needed. She sincerely gave all of herself in everything she did.
In her retirement years, Mary was constantly active and busy. It was truly her way of living well by not slowing down - working in the yard and her garden, joining friends in her walking group, visiting Charlotte and Richie for coffee to watch the big sports events, tidying the house up, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren when she could. Kyle, Hayle and Ryan were her love and she truly wanted them to be happy, healthy, and of course, always eat more. Mary’s kindness, love and generous spirit will live on through her grandchildren.
Mary always had time for everyone and gave so much of herself to others, never expecting a thing in return. Mom, we all will miss you tremendously, but know you are at peace and it is now truly your time to rest.
