Obituary of Sophie Lanz

On Saturday, December 26, 2020, Sophie Lanz, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away and is gone to Heaven to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, at the age of 96 years. Sophie was born on February 15, 1924 to Nicholas and Mary Roscoe (Donison) who immigrated from Austria and Romania. She was the only survivor of three brothers and three sisters. Sophie married Joseph Lanz in 1948 (deceased 1958), and they had four children. She worked for Mineral Resources of the Saskatchewan Government for thirty-two years. Sophie’s greatest commitment was raising her four children as a widow and then serving the Lord in the Baptist Church. She was a resilient lady and at age 74 was still playing hockey outside with her grandchildren. Grandma Sophie will be greatly missed. Sophie is survived by her four children, Lawny (Lee Anne) of Regina, Sandra of Halifax, Marilyn (Irvin) of Vancouver, and Brian (Karen) of Vancouver Island; grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin), Jessica (Jeff), and Brad (all of Regina), Dana, Nathaniel, Vanessa, and Tyler (of Vancouver); great-grandchildren; Isla, Jacob, Everly, Olivia, William (of Regina) and Rylan (of Vancouver). Sophie’s favourite bible verse was Romans 8 vs 38-39.
