With broken hearts, the family of Leland announces his passing on January 2, 2021, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Lee (as known to his family and friends), was born Oct 5, 1930 in Torquay, SK., to Ralph and Mary Schnell. He was raised on the family farm, with his two brothers and two sisters, and was no stranger to hard work. On July 6, 1955, Lee married the love of his life, Irene (Bouchard), and together they settled in Saskatoon, starting their family of five. Lee spent his career as a very successful salesman, and after relocating the family to Regina in 1963, he spent his work days traveling the province, until his retirement in 1995. Lee enjoyed golf, fishing and a good game of cards with friends, and spent his early retirement years with Irene at the cabin in Kanata Valley, and in the Okanagan for the winter months, having just recently moved back to Regina to be closer to family. Of all the things Lee loved to do, visiting with family and friends over an ice cold beer was at the top of his list. Lee will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Irene; daughter LeeAnn Thickson, and her son Connor (Brooklyn); son Craig (Yadis) and children Marieke, Errol, Rachelle, Melissa (Adam), and Frania, and their children August, Brixton, Laken, Tyson, Jonah and Emmet; son Gary (Geralyn) and their two children Owen (Amanda) and their son Theo, and Molly; son Kelly (JoAnn) and Brandon; son Tom (Lisa) and children Amy (Jemahl) and their daughters Neala and Lyla, Nicholas, Riley (Brittany), and Joshua; his sister Maureen (Stan) Pielak; brothers and sisters-in-law Cecil Schnell, Rita Bourassa, Alec (Betty) Bouchard,  Ken Bouchard, Joanne (Brian) Bates, Jean (Abe) Harder, Ellen (Don) Stoughton and Aurlie (Bill) Hodges; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and friends that became extended family. Lee was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Mary Schnell; Irene’s parents William and Yvonne Bouchard; his siblings Jim, Guy, and Audrey; and in-laws Ben (Rosie) Berger, Lionel Bourassa, Private Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. To view the livestream of the service, please click on the link above.
