Olie is remembered as a woman devoted to her family and her faith. She was an active member of Little Flower Parish in Regina and participated in the Lay Ministry Program. She married Joe Gattinger in Regina in 1956 where they raised four children. Olie cared for house and home and offered unconditional love and support to her family, friends and neighbours. She was known for her practical common sense to life situations and her wisdom was treasured by all who had the honour of knowing her. Olie’s sincere interest in the welfare of others, coupled with her intuitive and empathetic nature enriched the lives of her family and friends. She was always “there for you." Olie was quick to smile and would not pass anyone without a kind word or inquiry on how they were. She appreciated humour and especially enjoyed the funny comments that were provided by her husband Joe until his passing. Olie enjoyed cultural events, music, playing piano and ukulele, and shuffleboard. She was a caring and compassionate woman who was always ready to pray for anyone in a difficult circumstance. After the passing of her husband, Olie moved onto to the Broadway Terrace Eden Community in Regina, where she moved forward with her life and experienced great happiness surrounded by friends and participating in social events. Her positive and dignified presence in the lives of those who knew her will be missed. Heartfelt thanks to the outstanding care team at Regina General Hospital Unit 6A for their dedicated and compassionate care.
