Obituary of Hendrika Quade
Hendrika Johanna Quade passed away peacefully at Grace Hospice in Regina, SK on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the age of 95 years. She was born on August 30, 1925 in Rotterdam, Netherlands and grew up there, the oldest of six children of Cornelis and Antonia Vrinten. After the war, she moved with her Canadian husband Roy Quade to Regina where they worked and raised their three children, Ted, Roy and Bernadette. Hendrika pursued post-secondary studies in accounting while she worked as a financial secretary at the YWCA in Regina. She later became chief accountant at Shoppers Drug Mart in Courtney, British Columbia after they moved to Vancouver Island in the early 1970s. After Hendrika retired, she relocated first to Kelowna, B.C and then Regina, and lived most recently at College Park II in Regina. Throughout her life, Hendrika’s main interest was her family, both her immediate family and her extended family. She was always happy to visit with them and keep in touch with them. Hendrika was highly skilled at knitting and sewing and her children and nieces and nephews were often the beneficiaries, receiving presents of sweaters or other items of clothing. She was knowledgeable on many topics and kept up-to-date on both world events and local news. Hendrika was interested in a variety of issues and enjoyed lively discussions. She is survived by her sons Ted Quade (Delee) and Roy Quade (Carol); and daughter Bernadette Quade; her grandsons George Quade, Robert Quade (Kendra), Joshua Turner (Stephanie), and Geordan Turner (Chris); great-grandson Jared Turner; and sisters Bertie Marneth and Corrie Klapper from the Netherlands as well as many nephews and nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces. Hendrika is predeceased by her husband Roy Quade; parents Cornelis and Antonia Vrinten; son-in-law Jim Turner; brothers Case Vrinten and Bill Vrinten; sister Ans Vrinten; sisters-in-law Rita Vrinten and Lillian Vrinten; and brothers-in-law Frans Biemans, Ruud Marneth and Franz Klapper. Burial will take place at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery with immediate family in attendance.
