Andre Dufour

Obituary of Andre Guy Dufour

It is with great sadness that the family of André Guy Dufour announces his passing on January 22, 2021, at the age of 65. André will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Teresa LaRose and his children Dominic Dufour (Cassondra) and daughter Chloé Dufour (Michael). André will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Alexander, Benjamin and Grace; brothers Jacques, Richard (Johanne) and Claude (Marie-Claude) and sister Chantale. He was predeceased by his parents Guy Dufour and Jeannine Naud Dufour and sister Manon Dufour.

Born in Montréal, Québec, André moved to Regina, Saskatchewan in 1980. André attended the University of Regina graduating with two degrees; one in Education and another in Indigenous Studies. André taught in many communities across Saskatchewan, impacting students wherever he taught. In his final years of teaching, André taught in Regina at the Conseil des Écoles Fransaskoises. André loved to teach and cared very much about his students. When André went out and about in Regina, he would always know someone and students would always stop to say hello or give André a hug. André also loved to coach; coaching basketball, volleyball, softball and badminton, not only in the schools he taught at, but also in the community. He enjoyed watching movies, hockey and football, playing video games, reading and spending time with family. After a hard working week, André enjoyed going out for supper on Friday nights with his family where we would share stories about the week and make fun plans for the weekend. André loved the Montréal Canadians and had season tickets for the Saskatchewan Roughriders for many years. Those who knew André, know he had the biggest, most generous heart and had the ability to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. André always told jokes and always had fun.

He will be greatly missed. Our hearts are broken, but we have faith in God that André can now rest in peace. Teresa, Dominic and Chloé look forward to thanking everyone for their support when the easing of Covid-19 public gathering restrictions allow for a celebration of André’s life.
