Obituary of Barbara Marie Karwandy
“Remember me with a smile”
Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her husband Wendel, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage; sons Don and Billy Karwandy; siblings, Sylvia and Mona. Barb is survived by her children: Ken (Kirsten) Karwandy and their sons Mark (Treena), Brett, Michael, Chris (Kim); Carol (Gord) Farmer and their daughters Jill (Morgan), Kayla, Jaclyn; David (Lisa) Karwandy and their daughters Amy, Emma, Tess; Paula (Rob) Duguid and their sons Joel (Kelly), Matthew (Lisa), Evan; great-grandchildren Natalie, Jackie, Maddox, Braxton, Kaspar, Fern, and Jill and Matt’s expected babies; sibling Bill Aumuller (Bernice); great friend Adeline Sprentz; and many nieces and nephews.
Barb passed away surrounded by her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the thoughts and prayers of so many friends. Her legacy is the love of her family. She like the sun, shone warmth and light on all of her family and she will always be remembered as our heart and focal point. Barb has an abundance of wonderful, lifelong friends that kept her busy and brought her great happiness – many of them becoming family as well. She especially enjoyed time at the cottage, playing cards, gardening, painting, picking berries, having bonfires, and so much more. Barb was born in Regina and lived here her entire life. She became a nurse (Grey Nuns); a fitting profession for someone with such compassion. Barb and Wendel built their home in Whitmore Park, and resided there for 63 years. She was extremely involved with the Catholic Women’s League and St. Martin de Porres Parish. Barb’s greatest joy was to spend time with her large family. Sunday “Grandma” suppers were always something to look forward to and she made it seem effortless, time after time, to cook a meal for upwards of 20 family members. It was like Christmas every week. The family is grateful to the Palliative Care Team at Pasqua Hospital and Home Care, as well as her caring neighbours for their compassion and support. Donations in memory of Barb may be made to St. Martin de Porres Parish, 4720 Castle Road, Regina SK, S4S 4X1. A Private Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
