With hearts full of love, we regretfully announce the passing of Louis Jason Sunshine at the age of forty-nine.  Lou passed away peacefully in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, in the arms of his loving wife on April 7, 2021.  Lou was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and attended the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administrative and Commercial Studies.  He furthered his education at Wilfred Laurier University where he achieved a diploma in Management Studies.

Lou was a successful businessman who had a unique ability to solve problems and connect with people.  To say he was persuasive is a major understatement. He loved sports and enjoyed watching his kids play soccer and hockey. Always a fierce competitor, he took great pride in coaching youth hockey for many years. Through his participation in softball and as a hockey goalie he made many lifelong friendships. He was also an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He loved playing poker in Las Vegas and with his friends, who enjoyed his company so much they didn’t mind losing to him on a regular basis.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Julie Sunshine (nee Trushinski); sons Jeffrey Sunshine and Jordan Sunshine; mother Jackie Sunshine and sister Sherri Sunshine (Rick Budhwa). Lou was predeceased by his father, Nelson Sunshine, and will be missed by Sylvia Sunshine.  His Uncle, Dr. Stanley Sunshine (Joycelaine), Auntie Lynda Trachtman (David), and Auntie JoAnn Kepler will always hold special memories of Lou. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will also remember him fondly.

His sons have learned several important life lessons from him, such as “a promise is a promise” and that persistence is the key to achieving your goals. He exuded confidence knowing that when facing any issue, one way or another he would “figure it out”.  A good friend to many people, he was constantly willing to help out in any way he could. Family and friends have many fond memories of happy times with Lou, and the joy he brought into our lives will live on.

An online funeral and burial service will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 2:30 pm. To view the livestream of the service please click on the link above.
