Hello, my name is Cecilie Mortensen, and I am from Oslo, Norway. I am born in the same year as Chris.
I just found out that Chris has passed. I am so sad, and so sorry for his family.
I met Chris i Honduras, on a bus to Trujillo spring of 1997. We spent a few months there together. We shared the passion for travelling, and we had such a great time... I have several photos of him in my photo album.
At one time we walked along a deserted beach for hours, and when we went for a a swim, I got stung by a stingray. At the time I did not know what it was, and feared for my life as I screamed in pain and watch my foot double in size in seconds.
Chis ran for help, and got me to the local E.R.
The beautiful, most random moment of my life, was when we met again on the legendary "Full moon party" on Ko-phan-gan, Thailand, a year later - a complete surprise, we did not know that eachother were there!
After that, Chris had a special place in my heart and life history. I still remember the utter surprise, happiness and goosebumps when I saw him on that beach in the corner of my eye. A complete coincidence.
We spent the evening/night at his cabin up in the hills, talking. After that we never saw eachother in person again. This is a story I will always remember and cherish in my heart.
We emailed occasionally, and then not at all for maybe the last 10 years.
I did not know him well, but the memory of our coincidental meeting in Thailand will be with me forever.
