It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Christopher Martin Nicurati; son, nephew, cousin and friend.  Born in Regina on January 13, 1972, Christopher passed away unexpectedly in Victoria, B.C. on Monday, April 10, 2021.  He is remembered as a loving, compassionate and gregarious person who enjoyed and lived life to the fullest.  If he was your friend, he was your friend for life.

Christopher grew up in the Lakeview area of Regina.  He attended St. Pius X bilingual elementary school and Luther and Leboldus High Schools.  Christopher moved to Victoria as a young man and fell in love with the west coast.  His love of nature and remote places lead him to become a successful tree planter for over 25 years throughout British Columbia.  For Christopher, tree planting was much more than a seasonal job; it was a commitment to restoring the world of putting trees back where they belonged, where they had always been before.  Christopher’s work ethic, grit and stamina allowed him to pursue this physically and mentally demanding job for decades.  He loved working with a diverse group of people in remote and unfrequented settings.

During the offseason, Christopher traveled extensively visiting South-East Asia, India, and Australia but especially loved Thailand and returned there year after year. The beauty of the country, its beaches, culture and the serenity of its people spoke to his soul.  He travelled to Laos with his mother, Cecile, in 2014 where they visited many wonderful places and shared some amazing experiences.

Chris had an eye for art, design, photography and a love of music acquired through his years in Lions Band under the direction of Bob Mossing.  He loved all music from the latest rap to classical music.  Chris created abstract art and took breathtaking photos; keepsakes which will be cherished.  We will treasure Christopher’s compassionate soul, unwavering loyalty, kindness and hunger for knowledge.

He is survived by his loving mother and step-father, Cecile and Gary Wyatt; his grandmere Delvina Martin; uncles Armand Martin (Marilyn), Denis Martin (Ann), and Luc Martin (Freddy); cousins Jean-Paul Martin (Krista), Christian Martin (Randeana), Andi Celine Martin (Cullen), Colinne Martin (Pete) and Joel Martin; special friend and soulmate Mary Gilmore; and his countless friends across Canada and abroad.

Christopher is predeceased by his father, Gregory Nicurati; grandmother Isabel Nicurati; and his grandpere Rosario Martin.
