HICKEY, Ethel Maud (nee Howes)

1918-2021

 

Ethel Maud Hickey late of Bethune, SK passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the age of 102 years.  She was predeceased by her parents Louise and James Howes; her husband, Laurence; her sons Dale and Merle; brothers David (in infancy), Ernest, and Earl Howes; and sisters-in-law Velma and Betty Howes.  Ethel will be forever missed by her sons, Dean (Patti) and Keith (Carol); daughters-in-law Shirley and Linda; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Louise Hickey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mom’s greatest joy was her family, not only the ones here but also her relatives in Ontario.  She loved to travel with Laurence in their Funcraft and later with the Winnebago. Mom belonged to the 50+ club in Bethune and to a quilting bee.  She enjoyed quilting right up until her sight diminished.  Mom loved gardening and always had a big garden both at the farm and in town. Due to Covid-19, there will be a private family Memorial Service held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. To view the livestream of the service, please click on the link above on the day of the service.  Ethel will be interred at Bethune cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethel’s memory may be made to the Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or the MS Society, 150 Albert St, Regina, SK S4R 2N2.
