It is with great sadness to announce that Randy Hordichuk passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27th at the age of 70 as a result of a sudden and unexpected event. He was surrounded by his family and close friends. Randy was predeceased by his father, Stan in April 2014 and his mother, Cassie in April 2016. He was born in Benito, Manitoba on March 31st, 1951.
Randy is survived by his sister Cheryl (Trevor) of Abbotsford, BC; children, Mike (Amanda) of Regina, SK, Jeff of Okotoks, AB and Erin (Blair) of Regina, SK; eight grandchildren, Zachary (Hannah), Keatin, Lincoln, Grayson, Beckett, Sawyer, Kyver and Ayla; and he is also survived by his nephew Trevor (Prudence) of Niagara Falls, ON and niece Andrea of Abbotsford, BC.
Randy had a long career in the trades as an electrician which began in 1973 and expanded to include welding in 1996. He spent the majority of his trade career working from Local IBEW 2038 where he made many close friends. Randy also operated Studio II Photography starting in 1976 and as part of his photography career he had worked for Jostens taking school photos. When his father retired from the business in 1990, Randy amalgamated with Hordichuk Photography and remained a professional photographer until closing the business in 2005.
Randy found sobriety on December 26th 1992. His favourite pastime was spending time at his home/cabin at Collingwood with his family and friends. Randy was a talented builder and fixer of all things and had a passion for helping people. He loved spending time on the lake on his pontoon boat (which he built) with anyone that wanted to join him. Most recently he built a fishing boat, an ice fishing shack and was currently putting the finishing touches on custom features of his house.
Randy was a world traveler and had lived in various places including Cuba, Jamaica, Vietnam and Ukraine before finding his favourite place, Cambodia, where he spent the winters with his close friends. He also loved to play the guitar and had become quite good in recent time. Randy loved all things coffee, was in pursuit of brewing the perfect cup and enjoyed making it for all visitors.
A special thanks to Stars Ambulance and the Trauma & ICU Units at The Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon for all your care.
Randy will be deeply missed. Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday July 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
