YEUNG, Mary (Wong)

July 6, 1932 – August 4, 2021 (89 years old)

Mary Yeung was born in China, Guangzhou province, Fo’ Aocun, 3-8 region, and lived in Dakeng village. 台山三八彿凹新安村. She later immigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan. Mary came to Canada age 30 in the summertime. Her father was working in a restaurant in a small town near Calgary, Alberta. Wong Hing (Grandpa Wong) passed away at age 76, in 1957, one year prior to Mary’s immigration into Canada. He was buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Calgary. Predeceased by husband Cheuk Tin (70); daughter Jennie (9); and Grandma Wong, who lived till age 83 in Dakeng, China. Mary is survived by George (Teresa), Shirley (Tracey), Ann, and David (Yukiko); grandchildren Craig (Jennifer), Andrea, Melissa (Adam), Mark, Keiji, and Kohana; great-grandchildren Norah, Audrey, Sophia, and Jackson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in San Francisco and Calgary. Cheuk “Reggie” and Mary operated Howe’s Confectionery store in Regina on Osler Street. Mary also attended Regina Chinese Alliance Church. She spent her last years living with the wonderful staff and residents at Mutchmor Lodge. Visitation for family and friends at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
