Obituary of Michael Alfred Kitchen

November 4, 1953 - August 5, 2021

Michael was born on November 4, 1953.  He and his twin sister were adopted by Alfred and Freda Kitchen as infants.  Michael was a man of many talents, he has his Zoologist Degree and he worked at the Winnipeg Zoo for many years.  Later he became the head Zoologist at the zoo in Thompson, Manitoba.  Michael owned a farm and had a cattle feedlot and a bird sanctuary at St. Laurent, MB.  At the sanctuary he had many exotic birds, ducks and swans, just to name a few.  Michael also worked as a chef at some of the higher-class hotel restaurants in Winnipeg.

He had a love for Classical, Christian and Country music.  Michael’s favorites were Dean Martin and Charlie Pride.  He was a very talented organist and loved to play Gospel and Country while Ken would sing along.  That was their favorite evening pastime.  Michael loved gardening and their patio is full of flowers and a beautiful fish pond.  He was also a taxidermist and his talent to create lifelike birds was amazing.

Michael met Ken 33 years ago and they became life-long soul mates.  They were inseparable.  The two of them travelled several times to Mexico and Florida and they spent a lot of time at the farm and the bird sanctuary.

Michael was a quiet man and could hold a conversation about many things happening in the world.  He had a quick sense of humor and he loved life!  He was a perfectionist in anything he did.

Michael, you will be missed dearly by your soulmate, Ken.

Rest in peace, until we meet again.

A Memorial Service for Michael will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
