Katrine McKenzie

Obituary of Katrine McKenzie

A free spirit with a zest for life, Katrine lived bravely with Parkinson’s for 30 years. She died peacefully surrounded by family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Carl and Joanne Uteck and her brother Larry, she is survived by her son Colin McKenzie; grandchildren, Meika, Isis and Eden; and her siblings, Barbara, Anne and Joe. Katrine was glamorous, impulsive, sentimental and strong-willed. She loved her dogs, fashion, art, decor and travel. After graduating from the University of Toronto Katrine married the late Ted McKenzie and moved with him to Edmonton where she became Director of the Office for the Prevention of Family Violence for Alberta. She subsequently became the Director of Victims Services for the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice. Katrine will be deeply missed by her close friends Beverly Byrne, Lynda Palmer and Faye Rafter and by her long time and devoted companion Louis Macza. The family thanks the staff at Harbour Landing Village in Regina for their care, dedication and compassion. Donations in Katrine’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Saskatchewan of which she served as president for many years.
