Dear Sandra and family: Rod was one of my oldest and dearest friends. That circle was expanded with his marriage to you and mine to Martha. We had many good times with the two of you and other friends. We so much enjoyed Rod's humour and appreciated his loyalty as a friend. Our visits with you in recent years were distressing because of Rod's failing health, but we would not have missed them. We will remember him with great fondness, and remain in touch with you. I am sorry to learn of Rod’s passing. I had the pleasure of playing hockey with him for years and had many pleasant conversations as we carpooled to different rinks in Regina and nearby towns. He enjoyed playing hockey but was thrilled to get to play with his son Brad in the last few years he played. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Rath family.

I certainly cherish many great memories with the Rath family over my youth. I especially recall watching Rod cheering as the his beloved Jays won the World Series. Please accept our condolences. Our thoughts are with you Sandra and your family at this time. We fondly remember Rod as a truly great friend for many years. He could always be counted upon for wise practical counsel and enthusiastic support for anything that we did. We will remember the fun side of Rod forever. He had a great sense of humour. We smile when we think of him travelling (anxious but determined) on the ice road on Lake of the Woods, an $80 shower, trying to keep up with him on any construction or maintenance project -whether or not it was his project or ours! He enjoyed and often saw the funny side of people and life during our many lunch chats over more than 30 years. He will be missed.
