Obituary of Wayne Cordell Dirk

Wayne Cordell Dirk was born on September 9, 1955 in Regina, SK and passed away with his wife Yvonne and son Jason by his side on October 22, 2021 at the age of 66. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, John and Sharon Dirk. He is lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife, Yvonne, of 24 years; sons, Jason (Sherry), Lance (LeeAnn) and Bradley (Tessa); daughter Wendy (Brent); nine grandchildren, Aiden, Isaac, Karlee, Khloe, Frankie, Toni, Drayden, Kaydence and Aeriyana; brother Brian; sister Linda (Darrin); and various nieces and nephews.

Wayne grew up in Regina and attended both Sacred Heart and O’Neill Highschool. He started his career at the City of Weyburn working for the Fire Department. Wayne then moved back to Regina and got a job working at the Riverside Cemetery where he worked for 22 years before switching to Roadways where he worked for eight years. He retired in 2010.

Wayne was very competitive and started out playing darts for Team Saskatchewan in the Steel Tip League. He later joined the Soft Tip Dart League where he represented Team Canada in Las Vegas and he brought home three 1^st place trophies and one 2^nd place trophy.

After retiring, Wayne and Yvonne enjoyed travelling to places such as Mexico, Cuba and Las Vegas. They also participated in two half marathons, one in Las Vegas and one in Edmonton, where they spent many family Christmases.

Wayne was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. While undergoing treatments he was able to enjoy the next five years learning to play guitar and entertaining visitors with his love for music.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 7:00 PM. Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM.
