Obituary of Edith Bardutz

Edith (nee Barabas) Bardutz was born in Regina, Saskatchewan February 1, 1927. She was the 7th of 8 surviving children born to Lucas and Appolonia Barabas. She received her education in Regina, graduating with her Grade 12 diploma from Balfour Tech High School. Edith worked for the Department of Social Services, saving her money so she could travel to Europe with her good friend Vicki. She married William Bardutz in 1952 and not long after started a family which would include 7 children - Patrick, Alice, Ron, Kathryn, Karen, Linda, and Don. A devoted wife and mother, most of her time was spent raising her family. Grandchildren were also very special to her. Edith loved music, needlework, quilting, knitting, nature, gardening and travel to mention only a few and involved all of her children in these activities over the years. She traveled with her husband to Europe, Hawaii and Mexico as well as taking several cruises with their friends. She especially loved travelling with her sisters Martha, Rose and Jean going to Disneyworld, Alaska, Australia/New Zealand and Hungary.
Edith leaves to mourn her death, her husband William Bardutz of Regina; children, Patrick (Holly) of Regina, Alice (Ernie) of Saskatoon, Ron of Victoria, Karen (David) of Saskatoon, Linda (Gwen) of Saskatoon and Don of Regina; grandchildren Stephen (Brooke) of Regina and Emily (Taylor) of Vancouver, Erin (Jonathan) of Saskatoon, Mark (Hayley) of Ottawa, Matthew and Ellen of Victoria, Lucas of Toronto and Eric of Regina, Peter (Mathew), Kathleen (Alex), Anthony, Elizabeth (Derek), Rachel, Miriam and Isaiah of Saskatoon; great-grandchild Elliot of Saskatoon; sister Jean Meckling and many nieces and nephews.
Edith was predeceased by her daughter Kathryn, son (infant) David; daughter-in-law Lauretta (Ron); mother and father as well as brothers Andrew and Frank and sisters Martha, Rose, Anne and Mary; brothers-in-law Julius, Henry, Smilo, Steve and Ernie; and sisters-in-law Doris and Erna.
A Private Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina, SK, on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Richard Jasiak officiating. Proof of double vaccination or a negative Covid test will be required to attend the service. To view the livestream of the service pleace click on the link above on the date and time of the service.
