My deepest heartfelt sympathies go out to you all. My husband Frank and I met Cathy and Andy when they came to the UK to visit Jon and Yvette, who were our neighbours at that time. There is nothing I can say that can help to alleviate his loss so, instead I will pay this tribute instead:-
Wherever you are Andy I know you will be with Kathy, so I raise a glass to you both...........and here's one for the other leg !
Rest in peace my friend.

Sincere condolences to Andy's family. Cathy and Andy were honorary grandparents to our boys in our early days at White Bear, where our first cabin was the one their kids grew up in. The Riddell cabin, which they moved to, was probably 100 ft from ours, although hidden by the birch forest. Usually while we were still unloading on arrival we would hear a disembodied "Hello Julians!" from down the hill, voiced by either of the Andersons. As I built an addition into the cabin, Andy would show up with his tool belt, and if I was hesitant about how to best proceed, he would soon gruffly declare "I came to build; let's get on with it!". Suitably galvanized into action, I would get in gear and we would, in fact, get "er built. Andy's passing represents the end of an era for many at the lake, to be sure, and certainly for our family. Godspeed, Andy, and I hope you and Cathy are having a cigarette and a coffee and making sure that everyone around you in the hereafter knows how things SHOULD be done, damn it! You will be missed.

John and Philip, my sincere condolences to you and your families. Both your mom and dad held a special place in my heart. I always enjoyed visiting with them at the lake. Your dads love of reading and CBC was always apparent in his conversations. As a child I loved going to your cabin to read comics or have a bonfire.
