Albert Anderson

Obituary of Albert Herman Anderson

With sadness we announce the passing of Albert “Andy” Anderson on December 31, 2021 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK. Andy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cathy Anderson (nee Riddell); and parents Angel and Svanhild Anderson (nee Nilsen).  Andy will be remembered by his children Jonathan (Yvette) Anderson and Philip Anderson (Charlotte Hauk); grandchildren Crystal (Shawn) Tibbetts, Matthew (Anita) Anderson and Leif Anderson; great-grandchildren James and Rebecca Anderson; brother Harold (Loretta) Anderson; sister-in-law Mary Revell (nee Riddell); and extended family and friends.

Born and raised in Moose Jaw, Andy went on to have a varied career that included working as a meteorologist for the Air Force, a textbook salesman for Prentice Hall, an Instructor and Dean at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, and a management consultant.  Retirement saw him pursue his diverse interests, including reading voraciously, woodworking, and being an active clarinetist in the Regina Community Orchestra.  Andy loved carpentry projects whether it was a deck, a cabinet or a renovation and was always ready to share his knowledge and skills.  He was a lifelong listener and supporter of CBC Radio and believed strongly in the value that the Arts provides to society and to communities. Andy also enjoyed the outdoors and most summers were spent at the cottage that he and Cathy had at White Bear Lake where they spent considerable time canoeing, sailing, puttering around, and enjoying the company of lifelong friends.  He also treasured their other travels including cruises, sailing vacations, and journeys around Europe, including the time he and Cathy travelled to Norway to see his parents’ homeland for the first time. The family is taking solace in knowing that Andy and Cathy are together and were toasting us all as we rang in the New Year.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the ward 4B nursing staff at the Pasqua Hospital. We also thank Dr. E. Cuddington for her care and Frank Armistad for his support and comfort to Andy and the family.

At Andy’s request there will be no service held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made to the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143, Regina, SK, S4P 3G7.
