JULIA HARDY posted a condolence

Hi Mike,
Sorry, I was unable to attend the funeral and I'm late to write. Thankfully, I was able to attend the livestream. The words you spoke and the music you chose were, ... right on!
There is so much I could say, but right now, I'm remembering my connection to you. It was the night I was stranded at the Ottowa airport in a snowstorm. Conni and I had planned to meet for coffee before taking our respective flights back to Regina....
I can see her in my mind now, yelling and waving at me from the other side of the security check in, haha... Not so worried about convention was Conni! No, her worry was for her friend, and she wanted me to come back to your place with her for the night. You and your boys, were generous and hospitable, in true Conni fashion.
That memory so exemplifies how I've known Conni: welcoming, warm and caring, always there to share, and laugh and make fun. She had a gift, that I will always cherish in my memories of her, the rare capacity to see through the inconsistencies and ironies of life (to cut through the crap.) It was such a joy to have known her. I loved Conni and I will miss her dearly.
Julia Hardy

To Mike and the family, I am so saddened by Connie’s sudden passing. We just happened to meet before Christmas and reminisced about people we knew. She had a kind word and smile for everyone and I know she was generous with her time to help others. I appreciated her friendship as well as the work we did together. My deepest condolences to you and those who know her. Neelu Sachdev

Dear Mike: I had the privilege of working with your Mom for more than four years at the Sask NDP. She had a wonderful disposition that made it a joy for her work colleagues as well as the NDP members who contacted provincial office. Your grandparents had AHL players living at their Pittsburgh home and one of them was Roger Lafreniere, a player I knew slightly, so, in addition to politics that was another thread I had with Connie. This is also an opportunity to remember your dad who, with his compact red truck was the Regina sign chairman when I ran in Palliser. Deepest condolences to you and your family Mike Merran and Dick Proctor

So sorry to hear about her passing, I was devastated and shocked , we talked about everything and anything , we conversed with each other once or twice every week no matter where we were, we helped each other and comforted each other since we met, I can honestly say I have never had a friendship like the one we had . It is a great loss for me . We laughed and cried and watched TV and cooked and danced , we were spiritual friends as well … her character and personality are unique. Her friends she had were equally unique. I admired her compassion and I also admired her stubbornness at what she believed in. She stood her ground . I feel proud of being her friend, her artist , her confidante .she will be missed.

Our condolences, Mike, Adam, Theo & John, Louise & Bill...
Conni was a special friend to Terry & I. Most of our quality time together was spent in Mexico; over the 6 trips that Conni joined us on.
We three had a life changing whale watching trip that included eye-to-eye encounters with whales and hearing them singing under our boat. Conni & I spent a mystical spring solstice one year at the local petroglyphs, all alone at the site with a shaman. Conni was calm, yet vibrant, in Mexico. We walked the beach, cooked, shopped, read, and talked for hours. It was always so comfortable having her with us there.
Conni was so proud of Mike. She shared with us his adventures and ability to travel the world for his specialized work, even when she feared for his safety. And her grandsons were a real light. She looked forward to spending time with them and seeing the changes each visit to their unique personalities.
We will miss Conni deeply.

So sorry Mike to hear of your Mother's sudden death...such a shock. She was vibrant and a great soul. She loved you dearly and her eyes sparkled when she showed me pictures of your boys. I will miss going to concerts with her and enjoying the music we both enjoyed...until we meet at the next concert of our lives.

My deepest sympathy to all Conni's family and friends. It had been some time since I spoke with her or seen her - we always say we have to get together, but then life gets in the way - and then before you know it, it's too late. Conni, I am sure there is a Mexico in heaven.

I had the greatest luck of finding such a beautiful person in all aspects ... Conni was a very loved friend of mine, she was always there even though I moved away from Canada, we kept in contact frequently and now with the soul and through her favorite music I know we will be together forever.
I always saw her as my "Canadian mother", who appreciated and valued the people for what they are in their souls and to make every moment a happy moment.
I shared very happy moments with her, Kira and Tango, and some adventures of which she was often my partner in crime.
Mike, Theo, Jon, Adam, Louise, and Bill, my heart is with you, and my deepest sympathies go out to you.
Conni, keep on dancing in a heaven full of happiness
