Back in October of 1998 three of my children, Chantel, Laura, and Maria, were born in Regina. Not long after their return home to Estevan (maybe a week), Maria developed complications and needed to return to Regina for surgery.
With a 2 year old, and 2 new babies still at home, Maria's mom and I couldn't be there at the hospital during her recovery. Without being asked, and without hesitation, Denise volunteered to be there every day with Maria.
Denise was there to comfort and care for Maria during every one of those days. She made sure that Maria was not alone.
This was Denise. This is who she was. She was loving, generous, understood the importance of family, and was willing to back it up with action.
I will never forget what Denise did for us and for Maria. I will miss her.
