Obituary of Leonard David Scott

Len passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the age of 94.  He was predeceased by his wife Jackie; parents Elmo and Olive; brother (Major) Donald Scott killed in France during WWII; brother-in-law Danny George; sister-in-law Lorna Maifeld and niece Lynda Phillipson.

Len is survived by his three children: Jeff (Barb), Katie, and Michael (Leigh Anne); nine grandchildren Sean (Shawna), Kalene (Devin), Ryan, Mathew, Kieran, Alexander, Chad, Jessica and Sydney; three great grandchildren Harper, Max and Lily; sister Elsie George and niece Heather George (Steve Szuta); and brother-in-law Ernie Maifeld.

Dad was born on November 26, 1927 in Cupar, Saskatchewan and attended Loon Creek and Cupar High School.  He then enrolled in the College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan studying Soil Science receiving his BSA degree in 1951.  He had fond memories and life-long friendships from all three institutions.  After university, he worked at the Lands Branch, Department of Agriculture in Regina. While in Regina, he met Jackie Dunsmore. They were married on May 5, 1956.

Dad and Mom lived on the farm south of Cupar until 1989 when they retired and moved to their cottage at B-Say-Tah, Sask.  While living at Cupar Dad enjoyed coaching hockey and teaching Power Skating.  He belonged to numerous boards and organizations taking a leadership role in many.  While retired he helped out on the farm for many years with swathing being one of his favourite things to do right up until the age of 88!  Dad loved the farm and remained interested in all stages of the farming season.  He always wanted to be kept abreast of how the crops were going in and how they fared coming off.

Dad was his own man; he was practical and reliable with a strong character, fine mind, phenomenal memory, and had numerous interests including the world and its events, nature, wildlife, weather, geography, history, Montana The Magazine of Western History, WWII and its planes, politics, the quarter at Supreme, Sask., Cupar and Loon Creek history, the Scott family ancestry and the lives and doings of each and every family member.

Len will be greatly missed.  A private family burial will be held in the Cupar Cemetery at a later date.
