Obituary of Karen Laurie Craswell

Karen Craswell, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Karen was very open about her struggles with mental health and her children and family find great comfort knowing that the last months of her life were some of her happiest. She taught her kids from a young age that laughter was the best medicine and there was always enough to go around. She left us exactly how she lived; full of giggles, tears and a bit of drama. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Vi, her nephew Bryce and her re-parents Thelma and Frank. Karen is survived by her children Cody (Roberto), Matthew (Jessica), Sawyer (Lanna) and Annie (Ty), and their father Gerry, her grandchildren Lynyx, Benson, Ollie, Eddie, and “Billy” who wasn’t born at the time of her passing, but already had a special place in her heart, as well her siblings, her many nieces and nephews, best friend and sister Debbie (Lee), friend Mike and countless strong, kind and wonderful girlfriends. Always the social butterfly, Karen found friends wherever she went. She looked for and celebrated the under appreciated. If she loved you; you knew it. If she didn’t; same. She will be remembered for her compassion, kindness, generosity and most of all, her incredible sense of humour that she fortunately (or unfortunately) passed on to all of her children. She was open about her struggles with mental health and addiction. Her bravery and transparency around her journey are commendable and it’s her family’s hope that Karen inspires others to be open and continue the conversation. She had recently moved to Regina and enjoyed going to church, listening to music, the occasional smoke, coffee with cream, her pj’s and more than anything else, spending time with her kids and grandkids. She loved being a granny; whether it was a birthday or pool party, baking cookies, taking them swimming, or sending them into fits of giggles by popping out her teeth; she was in her element. She will be remembered for her love of loud music, especially live concerts, her wild sense of humor, her style, and her famous dance moves that occasionally caused her to injure herself but that never stopped her. More than anything, Karen loved and was loved. The world has lost a wonderful friend, sister and mother but her humour, kindness and wit will be with us forever. A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held at Celebration Church, 3130 Renfrew Crescent, Regina, SK on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Karen had a unique sense of style and would have loved to see everyone show up wearing tye dye or something a little wacky. Family and friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Bridgepoint Centre For Eating Disorders or the Saskatoon Sexual Assault & Information Centre.
