Jerome Martin Kuntz passed away at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, Regina, SK, on May 28, 2022 at the age of 85. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Lynn, brothers Aloys Kuntz (Rosamaria) and Larry Kuntz (Brigitte), sisters Felice Carpenter (Bill, deceased), Elizabeth Haubrich (Garret) and Margaret Derbyshire (Rick). Jerome also leaves to mourn the following nieces and nephews: Gabriella Kuntz-Fofana (Richard), Pablo Kuntz (Donna), Andrew Kuntz, Martin Carpenter (Robyn), Jamie Carpenter, Trevor Haubrich (Rebecca), Shaunna Peacock (Jeff), Graham McDonough (Pia), Meghan McDonough (Hersh) and Raynell McDonough (Chris) and many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Rose Kuntz, brother George and sister Angela McDonough (Ken).    Jerome was born in Vantage, SK, blind from birth. Every year from Grades 1 through 12, he rode the train to Brantford, ON, to attend the Ontario School for the Blind. Upon graduation, he worked at various CNIB concession stands and then as a developer of medical xray films. When new xray technology rendered his job obsolete, he went back to school in Vancouver, Washington to learn piano tuning and reconditioning. From 1982 onwards he worked in Regina as a piano tuner/technician, often for the Regina Public School system. As a boy, Jerome discovered the world of amateur (ham) radio. As a totally blind person, radio opened up the world to him and he was an avid member of the amateur radio community his entire adult life. He was the first blind person in Saskatchewan to get his amateur radio licence in 1959. Jerome was proficient on the accordion and for decades provided the musical entertainment for countless weddings, anniversaries and other celebrative get-togethers for family, friends, and the general public. At the age of 61, Jerome married Lynn (nee Carnegie), who was to be his loving helpmate for 25 years. Jerome had a wide array of friends across both the blind and sighted world and delighted in being active in many endeavours. He participated in many public service events through the Regina Amateur Radio Assoc., was on the national Board of Directors for the Canadian Council of the Blind, was a member (past-President) of Regina lions Clubs, volunteered with the CNIB, gave talks to RCMP recruits on how best to handle the blind, enjoyed blind bowling and cribbage, was a lifelong Roughrider fan, and was a devout member of the Catholic Church. Jerome accepted his blindness with courage and grace. He approached the world with affability and gentleness. His ultimate legacy will be that same spirit reverberating through the many hearts and minds he touched.   Many heartfelt thanks to Jerome's caregivers through the Saskatchewan Health Authority, especially the Pasqua Hospital and the Wascana Grace Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Cecilia R.C. Church, 5020 - 7th Avenue, Regina on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A livestream will be made available. Interment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Ave. E., Regina. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so, may make a donation, in memoriam, to Diabetes Canada.
