Obituary of Loretta Marlene Morton

MORTON, Loretta Marlene (nee Sandvold)

June 8, 1931 – August 7, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful mom, grandma, and great-grandma, Loretta, at the age of 91 years. Loretta was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Stuart, in 2008; parents Alvin Sandvold and Lillian and Clive Draycott; parents-in-law Harry and Christena Morton; brother DeVone and sister-in-law Ramona Sandvold; sister Carol in infancy; in-laws Corny Smith, Ken and Helen Morton, Mary and Howard Nelson, and Howard Morton; nieces Heather Sandvold and Linda Haynes; and nephews Lynn and Daryl Smith. She is survived by her much-loved family, daughters Arlis (Marcel) Shivak and Debra (Duane) Cookson; grandchildren Jodi (Barry & family) Kydd, Krista (Brent) Evans, Sean Shivak (Shelby Braun), Tenille Shivak (Mike Labelle), and Michael (Liza) Shivak; great-grandchildren Jaiden Evans (Carter Kidd), Griffin Evans, Janelle Evans, Connor Labelle, and Lucca Shivak. Loretta is also survived by her siblings Vivian (Ernie) Millar, Opal (Ron) Hein, Alvin (Marjorie) Sandvold, Karen Smith, and Roald (Mary) Draycott; Stuart’s brother Rae (Betty) Morton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. A family Graveside Service will be held at a later date and Loretta will rest with her husband in the Morton family plot in the Lumsden Cemetery. Loretta’s family would like to thank the staff of the Lumsden and District Heritage Home for their care of her since 2017, and especially in her final days.
