Obituary of Stanley Ross Lawson
It is with sadness that the family of Stanley Ross (Johnny) Lawson announces his passing at the age of 94 at the Regina General Hospital on November 3, 2022. Johnny was predeceased by four siblings and more recently his wife Beth in 2020. He leaves his son Kirk (Karen); granddaughters, Chanda (Kim) Schmidt and Christy Lawson (Chris Murray); great-grandchildren Ireland Schmidt and Cael and Grace Dunbar; as well as sister-in-law Flo Pinches; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Johnny was born and raised in Regina, the youngest of four children. He and Beth lived in Regina, Medicine Hat and Regina Beach. Johnny spent the last few years as a resident at The Bentley in Regina. He participated in and watched all sports throughout his lifetime, but his true passion was golf which he played into his 90’s. Johnny and Beth were long time residents of Regina Beach for forty years. They designed, built, and operated First Cabin Golf for many years and were active, involved members of the community. Johnny began his diverse working career as a travelling salesman at Intercontinental Packers. He was also the greenskeeper at The Royal Regina Golf Course and Regina Beach Golf Course.
Johnny will be remembered for his larger-than-life presence and personality and his unconditional love for his family. During the last few years, he took special pride in watching and discussing the sports that his great-grandchildren were involved in. The family would like to thank the caring and patient staff at the Regina General Hospital during the final weeks of Johnny’s life. A private family graveside service and interment will take place at a future date at Regina Beach Cemetery.
