Peter Alexander Warawa

June 26, 1996 - December 17, 2022

Life is both precious and precarious. Nobody understood that better than Pete.  It is with great sadness that we, Peter’s family, announce his passing on December 17, 2022.

Like all children, Pete was loved by his family and friends, but especially so by his mom and dad, Robin Berg and Ted Warawa , and his sisters, Jillian and Anne.

Pete was born on a day in late June. Who knows what the weather was like that day, but to his mom and dad it was sunny and bright; their baby was delivered safely.

Pete grew up in Regina where he attended Davin Elementary and Sheldon Williams High School.  He played hockey here, and chased butterflies and examined clouds while other kids played soccer around him. His home address was Leopold Crescent, but everyone who knew Pete, knew Chitek Lake and the forest that surrounds it, was where he felt truly at home.

Pete was blessed in so many ways, but his true riches were the people in his life. Pete was an old soul with a huge and open heart. He unconditionally loved his family and friends with patience, kindness, and a readiness to forgive.

Some of Peter’s last days were spent underground working in a potash mine.  He was proud of his work, and we were proud of his efforts and his commitment to this job.

There will never be enough space to capture the essence of a person, let alone our Pete, on a page. We hope that if you knew Pete, you’ll find someone else who knew Pete, and the two of you will share a story about him.

At times like this, everyone wants to know what they can do: here’s what you can do - share a little kindness.  If you see others in need, remember they have families who love them, and they dream of a better life for themselves.  Don’t judge them, and if you can, lend them a hand.

Donations can be made to Prairie Harm Reduction or Carmichael Outreach.

Lastly, if you read a good book, pause for a second and think of Pete. He loved nothing more than a great story.

Ted, Robin, Jill, and Anne thank everyone who has shown kindness to our family, not only in these past difficult days, but for years.

Peter is predeceased by his grandparents, Donald Peter Warawa, and Elnora and Ivan Berg, and friend, Jamie. Peter is survived by his parents Ted and Robin, his sisters Jillian and Anne, and his grandmother, Audrey Warawa. Pete’s other family members include Uncle Lorne and Auntie Teresa Warawa and cousins Damon, Rhianna, and Max; Uncle Bruce and Auntie Kimberley Warawa and cousins Dani and Simone; Uncle Neil and Auntie Lynnda Berg and cousins, Hilary (Alain), Courtney, Karsten (Carol) and their children, Luther and Philip; Auntie Shelley and Uncle Darrell Morvik and cousins Cleo (Kerry) and their child Solveig, and Tor; Uncle Todd and Auntie Colette Berg and cousins, Gabrielle, Matthew, William, and Bennet.

Pete's friend list is long, and we appreciate them all.

A Celebration of Pete’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 27, at 3:30 at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave, Regina, SK. There will be a lunch to follow.

Pete loved books! For those who would like to bring a book: There will be a book exchange table at the lunch after the service. It could be a kid’s book, a YA book, or an adult book. Pete loved them all.
