Our condolences to you Michelle and your family.
We have many good memories of our times together in Prince Albert after we had the good luck to meet you through our mutual friends. Although we have not stayed in touch much since we have followed Laurent's career with all the municipal involvement, as we saw his name show up time and again in references to the organizations he took part in. He was fun to know in P.A. and getting to know you was a privilege.
Thank you for organizing and hosting this special tribute today, we were able to join in the day through the magic of technology. It was a great way to take part and honor this special guy!

Michelle & Family,
I was so sad to learn of Laurent's illness and his passing. My condolences and prayers to you all.
I had the privilege of getting to know Laurent through his service on the Saskatchewan-Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee. He has had a tremendous impact - he truly did make the world a better place through his work, presence, and example.
Laurent will be deeply missed by so many people. I pray for your family during this sad time. May the love, care and concern of family and friends carry you on difficult days and may the cherished memories, love, and joy he brought to your family be a constant companion.

Condolences to the Family and Laurent’s loved ones! Laurent was instrumental in providing leadership in planning the SUMA Conventions at Evraz Place (his team held similar in Saskatoon too) These were at the time some of the largest events to be held in Regina and Saskatoon! I always enjoyed our time pre, event and post event times. Many times we would run into each other at events or grocery stores and later on Facebook. I loved his out of country posts and in person his jovial and practical attitude. He is very missed and I am blessed to have known him briefly as an acquaintance

I knew Laurent from the time he moved to Saskatchewan in 1976, and I had the good fortune to work with him for a number of years at the Institute for Northern Studies, and to stay in touch regularly after that. His intellect, his range of interests, his enthusiasm for everything he approached, was an inspiration to those around him. He will be missed by so many, but his achievements and the positive impacts he had in the world will continue to be felt, and his courage, humanity, and spirit, will carry on in those who knew him and were influenced by him.
Our sincerest and kindest thoughts to you and your family, Michelle.

Laurent was my brother, just two years older than I so we were close. When we were children, teenagers and young adults, we were friends and buddies and sometimes partners in crime- just the usual teenager stuff... Later on, when Laurent moved to Saskatchewan, I went to visit him and it changed my life. Laurent opened the world to me, showing this shy girl from Quebec that the entire country was hospitable, welcoming, and that one could decide to explore it while making friends along the way. That summer, I saw my future differently and I lived my life much influenced by Laurent 's sense of exploration and positive support. I also moved west and was privileged to maintain our friendship in spite of distance and geography. So many memories, so many visits, conversations, good laughs, and often a wise sounding board for me. I will miss him terribly, I will miss his insights in current and foreign affairs, I will miss sharing childhood memories, I will just miss him so much. There is never enough time.

Michelle, my sincere sympathy to you and your family. Laurent will certainly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. After you moved away from Prince Albert I was pleased to see him at a conference I attended in Regina and he greeted me with the words he learned from one of his working trips to the Ukraine - "Slava Ukraina"! Of course this phrase is familiar to so many now because of the war that is being waged there, but Laurent's visit had been during better times and we compared our experiences there and he shared his hopes for the democratic initiatives that were being put forward. Of course, we also talked about cars and your family. Treasure your memories of a life well lived.

I was very sorry to read of Laurent’s passing. He was highly respected by people all over the province for his knowledge of municipal government, as well as his personal qualities. It was always a pleasure to see and interact with Laurent. I’m sorry he didn’t have more well-deserved retirement years. Sincere condolences to Michelle and family.

Laurent was truly one of a kind, and he was 100% Laurent in all he did. His impact was wide, not only with the ways he worked to improve life for people living in Saskatchewan and all the national and international work he did, but for the many people who had the chance to work with and for him. He stood behind his beliefs and values, doing what he felt was right. I learned a lot from him in the years we worked together, and I know there are many others who had similar experiences. To his loving family and all the others who grieve for the loss of Laurent, may you find the strength, peace, and connection you need at exactly the right moments.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Laurent’s untimely passing. In the three years that Laurent and I did business together, I found him to be a man of honour, a natural leader and certainly someone willing to explore “out of the box solutions. Interestingly, it was his openness to explore new ideas that resulted in the two of us becoming friends. Michelle and family - please take solace in knowing that Laurent made Saskatchewan a much better place to live, and his efforts and improvements that will continue forward. My most sincere condolences.

Maurice Labelle, Gatineau.

As my successor, Laurent took SUMA to a whole new level through his visionary leadership and keen intellect. In his time he built a solid advocacy foundation for all Saskatchewan communities. His many professional accomplishments are recognized throughout the province, across the country and beyond.
I always enjoyed and looked forward to our occasional chats about the political landscape and in particular, watching together the outcomes of municipal elections in the province.
Laurent was a warm and generous friend to all and always had time to listen with a genuine interest in other people's lives.
May his family take comfort in their fond memories of him and knowing the high regard his many friends, colleagues held in him,
He will be surely missed by all.

Our condolences to Michelle and family on Laurent's passing. He was a man of whit and charm quickly won the confidence of everyone he met. I worked with him on many municipal projects and we attended conventions and meetings across Canada together. He was always full of fun and loved to record everything on his trusty camera. We were attending a meeting in Iqaluit a number of years ago and he convinced me to go for a walk outside the community so he could get some pictures of the northern lights. A great memory for me.

On avait 13 ans.
