Obituary of Robert Wuschenny

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, and grandpa, Robert (Bob) Wuschenny, on Monday, December 19, 2022.

Robert was predeceased by his father John; mother Katie; brother Jerry; and sister Betty. Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Adeline; daughter Azalea (Steven); grandson Riel; daughter Tricia and feline pal Tiger.

Robert, an educator for life, spent 50 years within the K-12 system, private school, post-secondary and heritage language program. Additionally, Robert served as an administrator, university lecturer, college supervisor, substitute teacher, accredited teachers in English and graded provincial exams. He influenced thousands of students and educators throughout his career. Robert enjoyed teaching and was proud to be an educator.

Serving others and his community was important to him. In his retirement, Robert remained active in volunteering with many organizations, including the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism, Age-Friendly Saskatchewan and Regina, Spiritual Care at the Regina General Hospital, Grow Regina and many church organizations including parish council, the Eparchial council, UCBC, and the Knights of Columbus. He often assumed leadership or advisory roles in his work.

An avid gardener, Robert was most happy when his hands were in the dirt. He couldn’t wait for the ground to thaw. He loved to tend to his flowers, perennials and vegetables and was happy to share his harvest with family, friends and neighbours. He also loved to visit and had many good friends and easily made acquaintances wherever he went.

Prayers will be held at St. Athanasius, 55 McMurchy Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Athanasius on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. To view a Livestream of the Service or to leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com.
