Obituary of Kenneth Charles Owens
OWENS, Kenneth Charles
After battling for as long as any man can to remain alongside his dear wife of 66 years, Ken Owens, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the age of 92 years.
Ken was predeceased by parents Bella Owens (Hudson) and Abraham Owens; brothers Richard (Dick) and Harry; sister Florence and brother-in-law Walter (Charter).
He is survived by wife Viviane; daughter Julie (son-in-law Al); son David (daughter-in-law Sheila); and grandchildren Angie, Allison and Kailey.
Ken was a generous, good-hearted and hard-working man, who always put his family first and unfailingly generous of spirit. He could be counted on to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed and savoured his roles as husband and father, and later as ‘Pappy’ to his grandchildren, with energy and enthusiasm that belied his years.
Ken took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and with each success, relished the chance to point out that “We must have done something right.”
Ken’s early years serving in the Canadian Navy and Armed Forces fostered a love of travel and a lifelong inability to sleep in. Typically, up at dawn, even on weekends, he brought an irrepressible energy and determination to each day. His lifelong passion for fitness and sports was passed along to his children and grandchildren alike.
In later years, he poured his energies into tending his garden and took much satisfaction in sharing its bountiful harvest with family and friends.
As his family, we are forever grateful for the priceless opportunity we were granted to express our love and share our fondest memories. It is no small blessing that he was visibly at peace with a life well-lived, surrounded by loved ones, and with wife Viviane by his side to the end.
May he rest in peace.
