Joseph “Joe” Nicholaus Lang, late of Regina,SK passed away quietly and peacefully in Regina, SK, with family at his side on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the age of 96 years and one day.
He was predeceased by his parents, Adam Sr and Mary (Sanheim) Lang; siblings and their spouses, Nicholaus and Elizabeth (Dreher) Lang, Mary Lang, Adam and Genevieve (Jenny Dreher) Lang, William (Bill) and Elizabeth (Beth Lang) Wagner, Anton (Tony) and Dorothy (Bachman) Lang, Henry and Margaret (Anwender) Lang, Margaret (Marge Rist) Lang, John and Dorothy (Kress) Lang, John and Eleanor (Ella Lang) Rist, George Hanofski, Raymond and Adeline (Lang) Nostadt, and Henry Donauer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Phillip and Elizabeth (Lauman) Knorr; and in-laws, Joe and Mary (Knorr) Roszlien, Joseph and Mary (Rist) Knorr; brothers, Phillip and George Knorr; and brothers-in-law, Floyd and Elizabeth (Knorr) Lindgren and Victor Schneider; two Grandchildren, Nicholaus Hegel and Brendan Lang, great grandchild Baby Lang and a number of nephews and nieces.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Annie; children, son Bruce and daughter-in-law Edith (Wilson), son Larry and daughter-in-law Heather (Wyllie); daughter Coleen and son-in-law Glenn Hegel, son Leslie and daughter-in-law Wendy (Kowalchuk), daughter Gayleen and son-in-law Dr. Wesley Thomson, and son James and daughter-in-law Shelley (Beauchamp). 17 grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth (Lang) and Justin Sylvia, Katherine (Lang) and Garret Neil, Daniel and Dr. Charlotte (Galenza) Lang, Robyn Lang and Larry Peterson, Chris and Crystal (Dutka) Lang, Joseph and Chandler (Wall) Hegel, Alyssa (Hegel) and Ben Fehr, Laura Hegel and Stephen Schraefel, Erin Lang and Rohan Gaddam, Lisa Lang and Kody Rosentreder, Tristan and Ashley (Buller) Lang, Paul Thomson and Jen Beaudry, Blaine and Haley (Rathgerber) Thomson, Dr. Jillian Thomson and Dr. On Cho, Matthew Thomson, and Joshua and Connor Lang; ten great-grandchildren, Gavin and Naomi Sylvia, Benjamin, Claire and John Neil, Winston Lang, Stella and Hendricks Lang, Dawson Hegel, Brooklyn Fehr, and Sisui Beaudry, as well as two, soon-to-arrive babies; siblings and their spouses, Konrad Lang, Mary (Lang) Hanofski, Albert and Mary (Hanofski) Lang, Evelyn (Lang) Donauer; sister-in-law, Katherine (Knorr) Schneider and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was born on the family farm at Kendal, SK. The 7th child of Adam and Mary Lang. Along with his 13 siblings, he learned the value of hard work, family connections, the love of growing things and nature, joy in simple pleasures like playing cards, and curling, and faith in God.
The family would sincerely like to acknowledge the staff at the 5E Unit, Regina General Hospital, who were so kind and loving to Joe while in their care. The kindness and compassion they showed was incredible! In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Palliative Care Unit, Regina General Hospital.
Mass and Celebration of Dad’s Life will be held at St Anne Catholic Church, 1701 Cowan Cres, Regina SK Saturday, March 18, 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Kendal, SK following lunch. Arrangements in care of Speers Funeral and Cremation Services.
