Obituary of Beatrice McMillan

It is with great sadness but with peaceful hearts that our family announces the passing of our dearly beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-great grandmother, sister, sister-in law, auntie, and friend. Joy was preceded by her loving, caring husband Douglas Henry McMillan; her granddaughters Karen and Delys McMillan; son-in-law Garry Newlove and granddaughter-in-law Janelle Fisher; her parents Steve and Annie Wallace; sisters Nadine Duck, Wally Yurkowski and Betty Hutton. Her brothers Lyn Wallace, Jim Wallace, Harry Wallace, and Ivan Wallace. Left to cherish her memories are all her children: Linda Newlove, Judy (Terry) Crawford, Brian (Marie) McMillan, Trina (Lorne) Wirth, Gary (Gemma) McMillan, Sabrina (Al) Fisher, Ward (Susan) McMillan; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings Faye (Ross) Murray, Murray (Sharon) Wallace, and Jeannette Epp; as well as numerous nieces and nephews across Canada. Joy was a caregiver all of her life. As the eldest in her family, she was a great help for her mother watching over her 10 younger siblings. She trained in St. Boniface, as a Practical Nurse and worked at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina.  As well as raising her own children she continued caring for others in various capacities. She nurtured, supported, and cared for many people that have crossed her path in life. She was always there to dig in and help in any situation. Mom loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had an endless energy for them, baking cookies and tarts and playing games. They were often rewarded with her singing, dancing, and yodelling.  She was very talented in numerous crafts, and she thoroughly enjoyed a night of card games, often commenting, “you can’t do that”. Giving of herself was Mom’s way of letting everyone know what was in her heart, “you are all so important to me”. Our family would like to thank all the amazing staff at William Booth Care Home for their gentle loving care and sincere kindness to our mom over the years.
