Pauline Naqvi, née Pentilchuk, late of Regina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, 1 April, 2023 at age 90. A talented and creative teacher, she loved art, music, and dance, and was devoted to her Faith and community. She loved learning and inspired others to learn all her life. Pauline began teaching in rural schools at age 17, deciding, after several years of experiencing the school system as a student, that “somebody had to do better.” She received her teaching certificate in her early twenties, and continued in the classroom until the arrival of her third child. Pauline remained a teacher at heart and in practice, earning her Bachelor of Education at 50, offering classes to the Bahá’í community children, and tutoring new Canadians in English. She loved company and cooking, and was a wonderful gardener, filling much of her backyard with both flowers and vegetables, and much of the front with flowers for the neighbours. Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Maria; brothers John, Ted, Geordie, and Kenny; sisters Carol and Betty. She is survived by her siblings Vicky, Bill, Marion, Arkady, Emily, and Carl; children Karim (Sarah), Kimberley, Darius (Nooshin); grandchildren Beth, John, Jasmine, Lua, and Charlotte; and great grandchildren Hayden, Brooke, Melody, Isabella, Brianna, Riley and Zane.
May we all keep cultivating our gardens and our minds in her honour.
