Minnie Schmidt

Obituary of Minnie Mildred Schmidt

SCHMIDT, Minnie

1938-2023

It is with heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Minnie Schmidt.

She will be fondly remembered by her daughters Wendy (Richard) Gellner, Darlene (David) Seminuk, and Karen (Daryl) Holman; grandchildren Marnie (Joshua) Kinzel, Mallory (Mallory Clarkson) Gellner, Daniel (Karmen) Seminuk, Debra (Jason) Larson and Joshua Holman; great grandchildren Olivia and Jack Kinzel, Marcellus and Teanna Larson, Jacob Campbell and Skylar Holman; sister Aileen (Donald) Hansen; and sister-in-law Loreen Sievert.

She was predeceased by her husband (Richard); her parents Otto and Katherine Sievert; and ten siblings.

Minnie passed away just 5 days shy of what would have been her 85 birthday, April 28, 2023.

She was the youngest of the twelve children born to Otto and Katherine Sievert.

Minnie was baptized, confirmed, and married at Fairy Hill Lutheran Church.

She grew up on the Sievert family farm and attended Scarborough school. After her formal schooling, she enrolled in a business course at the Reliance School of Commerce in Regina. She began employment with Sears and later, the Royal Bank.

Mom and Dad were married on July 18, 1958. They moved to the Schmidt farm where they farmed until 1979. They sold the farm and retired to Southey.

After the passing of our dad, Mom moved to Regina where she started working at the Regina Lutheran Home, Food Services Division until her retirement.

Special thanks are extended to the staff at the Pasqua Hospital for their dedication and patience. It was reassuring to us to know that Mom was in good hands.

Also, a very special thanks to Mom's neighbour and dear friend, Anne Huber.
