Don was my Uncle, three years older than my Father. I grew up with his girls, Tracy and Lee-Ann, mostly at family gatherings or summer holidays. I remember thinking that Uncle was a tad elusive and a bit of mystery. I wish I knew him better, but in his later years I know how much his family was on his mind and close to his heart. Don planted parts of a raised garden in memory of my own Dad, which touched my heart and soul. My favourite memory is seeing Don at my Dad’s burial. I was so happy he was there. He gave me a strong hug, kissed me on the cheek, and told me he loved me. Be free and at peace now, Uncle Don. You’re with Grams and Gramps now. You will be missed.
